Calvary’s Core Culture & Values
A summary of the Kingdom values that shape who we are
It’s All About JesusJesus is central to everything we do—our worship, our leadership, and our decisions. Our aim is to help people know Him, remove obstacles to faith, and follow Him in everyday life.
We exist to know and glorify God the Father, through Jesus, by the Holy Spirit. We’ve chosen to consistently refocus our worship, leadership, and decisions around questions like: “What is God blessing?” What enables our congregation to focus on and know Jesus? Where is the Holy Spirit present?
His Presence Takes Priority
We pursue God’s presence over performance. We linger when He moves, remain flexible in preaching and planning, and create space—through Sundays, Encounter, and More—for people to experience Him deeply.
Hearing God’s Voice
We are a house of prayer. In times of worship, decision or challenge, we pause to seek God’s voice together. Listening prayer, prophetic ministry, and intercession guide our leadership and shape our direction.
Healing & Wholeness
God wants to restore hearts. Prayer & ‘soul care’ ministry is integrated into leadership culture. People are encouraged and supported in seeking inner healing as a foundation for healthy, sustainable lives & ministries.
Gentle & Welcoming
Calvary carries a spirit of peace and gentleness. We honour each person’s story and strive to create a community that listens, cares, and welcomes all—wherever they are on their journey.
The Word of God
Scripture is foundational to our discipleship. We encourage personal engagement with God’s Word and small group reflection that emphasizes heart-level application, not just information.
People Lead out of their Anointing
We empower people to serve in areas of calling and gifting, not just programs. We value risk over perfection.
We’re a “Go” People
The Church exists to be sent. We encourage people to live missionally, share God’s goodness in everyday spaces, and pursue the missions God places on their hearts. In addition, people & ministries often launch after being nurtured here.
We Invest in Children & Youth
We deeply value our children and youth as a vital part of the Church. We make space for the voices, gifts, and ministries of our kids and youth.
Getting Away Together
Retreats, camps, and trips matter. They create shared experiences, deep connections, and sacred space for spiritual breakthroughs.
Ongoing Discipleship
We’re committed to helping people grow in Jesus as mature disciples. Consistent, relational small groups or connections bear the most fruit and we seek to develop this value more moving forward.
Mentorship Culture
We believe growth is relational. We’re developing a culture where anyone can walk alongside others—encouraging faith, developing gifts, and offering life-on-life support.
