Discipleship Steps

Like any living thing, growth is a process.  We learn how to walk with God, listen to his voice, draw upon his gifts and power working in us.  God loves this process of transformation because it requires a growing intimacy and reliance upon his love and work in our lives.  Like children learning to walk, God is delighted with our every step and doesn’t wait for perfection to celebrate our growing.  

 

Would you like to begin practising one of these tools for growth?  Expect moments of real growth and excitement; and expect times where you just practise and don’t experience much of anything. Like learning an instrument or practising a sport, humans learn through practise, repetition and development.    Read through a gospel paying attention to how Jesus helps his disciples grow: time spent with him, teaching, modelling, practise and using the teachable moments that naturally occur to help make it applicable to them and daily life.

There is likely one or two spiritual practises you’re more naturally drawn to.  Continue practising one of these: it’ll encourage you and remind you how you learn with God.
