Have you ever wanted to make a difference but thought “What can one person do?”.
In 2015, in response to the huge wave of refugees caused by the war in Syria, Calvary began sponsoring Syrian families to come to Canada. The settlement of refugees aligns with God’s heart and we’ve seen His abundant provision. We have made a difference in the lives of 24 refugees…so far! Please pray for our committee, the refugees we have helped settle and for the safety & provision of refugees across the world.
In partnership with Highview Community Church and Central Church, we are currently sponsoring a Syrian family with a Waterloo connection. Despite minimal funds, harassment by Lebanese police and severe restrictions on their movements, this family has established a thriving school in their Lebanon neighbourhood to help Syrian refugee children whose education has been disrupted. Having completed a graduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University on a scholarship, Aphrodite has established herself locally and has been patiently seeking help to bring her parents and brother to safety in Canada. Her sister, also the recipient of a scholarship for graduate studies at a Canadian university, is currently living in Western Canada.
To raise funds to provide sponsorship for the Al Zouhouri Family, the Refugee Settlement Committee is holding an Online Auction called "Bid For Freedom" where people are able to bid for Items and Services. The Auction will open November 1, 2020.
To submit an item or service to the auction, please click on the logo or the auction submission form.
