Email from Pastor Peter Muli:
Thankyou for your prayers and concern about what has been happening here for the last few days. We had peaceful elections but during the vote counting, when the current goverment sensed defeat, they somehow manipulated the results in their favour through the electrol commision. The opposition leaders have rejected the results and also are unwilling to go to the court since the courts may also favour the goverment. Majority of kenyans are bitter about the results since the opposition candidate Raila defeated president kibaki in six out of the eight provices we have. There alot killings especially Nyanza, Riftvally,Western and coast provinces. The targeted people in those places are the kikuyus because president kibaki comes from that tribe. We the kamba people are also targeted because the electrol commision chairman comes from our tribe although we are not supporting what happened.
This is a complicated situation and we are praying for Gods intervention. In Kakuma the situation is abit calm since the people voted for both president Kibaki and the opposition canditate Raila Odinga. I and my family are at home now and our place is calm since we voted for the candidate who came third and he has no disputes on the election results. We are supposed to be going back yo kakuma next week but it seems impossible because no buses are going there especcialy because the Pokots who live betweet Kitale and lodwar are very bitter about the results and are shooting any vehicle passing there.
Continue praying for us since innocent people are loosing their lives and property. I and my family are going to tarry here at home to see if things are going to get calm. We would be safe if the situation cools down to travel by the Maf plane to kakuma and therefore if you can raise the plane fare for us it would be a great blessing for us. They are currently charging 12,000 per person.
The church leaders have declared this coming sunday to be a prayer day and we look forward for the best.
Thankyou and God BLESS YOU, as you continue to remember and pray for us.
Yours Peter.
