    Preparing for Your Life Together

While the ministers of Calvary will involve all couples in pre-marital counseling discussions, it is a requirement that couples contemplating marriage participate in some form of marriage preparation program.

    Choosing the Perfect Music

Once the wedding date has been confirmed by a first interview with the minister, you should arrange to meet with the director of music. In addition to organ and/or piano music, some couples wish to have a special piece performed by a soloist or wind ensemble. All music, either local or instrumental, must be discussed with and meet the approval of the Music Director. You can meet him at the church following Sunday Services or call the Office (519-664-2311). He will be happy to share ideas with you. In the event that you wish to have another pianist/organist, the Music Director’s fee must be paid anyway. It will be donated to the Music Fund.

    Rehearsal

The rehearsal plays an important role in helping all who are involved in a wedding understand the full meaning of the service, as well as their part in it. All participants in your wedding including, the wedding party, ushers, parents, soloists etc. are requested to attend the rehearsal. Please ask these people to be prompt and co-operative for the rehearsal. If special music is to be rehearsed, please inform the Minister and the Music Director so that enough time can be set aside.

    Church Decorations

Calvary United Church is a beautiful place of worship and does not require elaborate decorations. You must make arrangements with the custodian. All decorations/flowers must be removed from the church as soon as possible following the service. A donation of flowers for Sunday worship is optional. Please call the office prior to the wedding day if this is your intention. Florists should call the church office (519-664-2311) several days prior to the wedding day to confirm a delivery time of floral arrangements.

    Confetti

Confetti, or such material, is not to be used within the church building or on the church property.

    Capturing your Memories

Your photographer is asked to clear instructions through the officiating minister. No pictures may be taken during the actual marriage ceremony, but there are other appropriate times for picture taking (during the Processional, the Recessional and the signing of the register).

Everyone, photographers included, should remember that a wedding is a service of worship and must not be disrupted. Those wishing to video tape their ceremony should consult with the minister for more information.

    Setting the Date

The first step in arranging your wedding is to select and book the date and time. You can do this by calling the church office at 519-664-2311. During peak wedding months please be prepared to accept alternate times for your wedding. We schedule weddings two hours apart to ensure that there is no overlap between ceremonies.

We're glad you've chosen Calvary to celebrate your day. We want your wedding and continuing marriage to be filled with love, joy and meaning, so we'll make every effort to support you in your preparations.
