Growing in Personal Faith, Ministry and Service
Calvary's Mission Statement Calvary wants to help people connect with God, grow in their faith and find ways to make an impact on our world.
Calvary has a wonderful ‘community’ church feel with a great blend of ages, styles and stages of faith. On a Sunday, you’ll see children – lots and lots of children enjoying our excellent and caring Sunday School program. You’ll see individuals, young families, parents and grandparents mixed together in our informal service.
The service carries that same great blend: from upbeat contemporary music to favourite hymns, messages that help you connect your faith to your daily life, and casual time to connect with others.
But Sunday morning is just the tip of the iceberg – during the week, there are exciting programs for children – music, youth and sports. On-going and short-term Groups and studies to help you grow your faith. You’ll also regularly find opportunities to make a difference in the community and the world. (Calvary has recently become involved in missions to Mexico and to Africa – to provide care in practical ways such as home building and support to local missions teams).
A Little of Calvary’s History? The United Church is a union of Methodist, Congregational, Presbyterian and Evangelical United Brethren churches. Calvary was an Evangelical United Brethren church until union in 1968. While the United Church has a wide range of theological perspectives, Calvary seeks to be faithful to traditional Christian belief while struggling to articulate this in a way that makes sense and is applicable to our everyday lives.
